Junior Operator Course

This is a comprehensive theory and driving course taught in accordance with the driving and motor vehicle standards set by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicle. The course is intended to provide basic driver education to students of all ages, with a focus on first time teen drivers – or junior operators. Students will receive both classroom and behind-the-wheel instructions on how to safely operate a motor vehicle.

The course consists of:

  • 30 hours of classroom instruction

  • 12 hours of behind-the-wheel driving

  • 6 hours of observation in a vehicle

  • 2-hour mandatory parent class (required for all students under the age of 18)

The parent class will provide insight into what your child is learning in driver education and explain current rules and regulations in the state of Massachusetts. During the course, we will also explain how parents can reinforce safe driving habits and be positive role models behind-the-wheel for their children.

Drivers's Education

In Massachusetts, teenagers may begin driver education (classroom only) as young as age 15 years and 9 months but may not begin driving until the age of 16. A Class D Learner's Permit is not required to begin the classroom portion of driver’s education.
